SURGUTNEFTEGAS AWARDED THE EUROPEAN STANDARD PRIZE

For development and introduction of integrated industrial ecology programs contributing to higher level of compliance to international standards of crude production and petroleum refining and transportation OJSC “Surgutneftegas”, as provided by the resolution of the European Public Commission, is awarded the European Standard prize.

On April 21 Bern hosted the award ceremony where Russian companies got prizes for successful introduction of Western-style technologies and management principles. The ceremony came as part of the efforts of the Institute for European Integration (IEI) to develop contacts between Russia and Europe. The IEI’s project received support of the Council of Europe.

For introduction of Western-style social responsibility and business standards Surgutneftegas alongside nine more Russian companies was awarded the European Standard prize.

Expert studies and tests in Russia were conducted by IEI in cooperation with the Berlin Expert Institute, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs’ Expert Institute and All-Russian Quality Control Organization.

The Jury’s functions are performed by the European Public Commission, which includes experts from Switzerland, Germany, France, Russia, and other Member-States of the Council of Europe.

According to the organizers of the project, this award should be seen as the certificate of compliance of product quality and management principles to those accepted in Europe.
