SURGUTNEFTEGAS GENERATES OVER 1 BN KWH

Since January 2005 Surgutneftegas has generated in-house over 1 bn kWh. By the end of the year the Company is planning to generate a total of 1.433 bn kWh. Division of Intra-field Gathering and Utilization of Petroleum Gas of OJSC “Surgutneftegas” operates seven gas turbine power stations with total capacity approaching 199.5 MW. These stations cover up to 15% of the Company’s demand for electric energy. This year we are going to utilize around 500 mn cm of associated petroleum gas to produce electricity at gas turbine stations. Through this project we do not have to construct gas pipelines and to burn gas in flares at remote fields thus improving ecology of the region.

By 2009 Surgutneftegas plans to construct nine more gas turbine power stations at its northern and western group of fields in Western Siberia. By that time our own power stations are to cover more than 1/3 of the Company’s demand for electric energy.
