SURGUTNEFTEGAS PROMOTES TECHNICAL RETROFIT

Encouraging its 2005 equipment and technology retrofit program, OJSC “Surgutneftegas” improved efficiency of production by about 60% compared to 2004, which translates into RUR 8 bn 874 mn.

In 2005 the Company performed 264 operations to develop new operating procedures, production activities and equipment.

Cooperating with leading engineers and producers of oil and gas equipment and technologies, we tested 55 new technologies and items of equipment, including those used for well survey and production as well as for sidetracking, oil transportation and transport services.

Within its import substitution program the Company kept cooperating with domestic producers of equipment and facilities. Having substituted 734 imported items, we saved RUR 455.7 mn.

Following its 2006 import substitution program the Company plans to order spare and wear parts to substitute 735 imported items, which could save about RUR 525 mn. 

Equipment and technology retrofit is central to improving efficiency of producing fields and hydrocarbon reserves, which are difficult to recover with traditional technologies. OJSC “Surgutneftegas” successfully employs such technologies as horizontal well construction, application of biopolymer drilling muds and new well-killing fluids for well construction and simultaneous drilling.
