TWENTY FIVE PERCENT OF ELECTRIC POWER DEMAND OF OJSC “SURGUTNEFTEGAS” ARE COVERED BY IN-HOUSE POWER GENERATION

At the present time, one forth of the overall electric power demand of OJSC “Surgutneftegas” is covered by in-house power generation. Today, there are eleven gas-turbine power stations operating at the Company’s oil fields including four stations that have been put into operation this year. The total capacity of all gas-turbine power stations of OJSC “Surgutneftegas” comes to 307.5 mW. The stations allow the Company to generate more than 6.5 mn kWh per day.

According to the Company’s date schedule, three gas-turbine power stations are to be launched in 2007 and three – in 2008, among them there are two power stations at the Severo-Labatyuganskoye and Tromyeganskoye fields with capacity of 24 mW and 12 mW, correspondingly, that will be put into service next January. By 2007, the Company is to commission a gas-turbine power station at the Verkhnenadymskoye field as well.

Since 1999, OJSC “Surgutneftegas” has been realizing the program aimed at gas-turbine power stations’ construction that allows the Company to maintain self-powered production in accordance with “The program of energy-efficient economy” approved by the Russian Federation government. In the current year, thanks to utilization of 700 mn tons of associated petroleum gas at all gas-turbine power stations of the Company, air pollutant emissions were reduced by several million tons. Without decreasing the gas-utilization ratio, OJSC “Surgutneftegas” continues developing the existing and new remote fields.

Thanks to the commissioning of nine gas-turbine power stations, within last five years in the region OJSC “Surgutneftegas” has arranged additionally 400 working places.
