General information

OJSC “Surgutneftegas” established an integrated system for gathering, transportation and utilization of petroleum gas by 2000. This system allows us to take a comprehensive approach towards utilization of equipment and capacities, distribution of products, and compliance with licensing agreements for associated petroleum gas utilization.

The Company incorporates two gas utilization divisions:
- Intra-field Petroleum Gas Gathering and Utilization Division (UVSING);
- Gas Processing Division (UPG).

The Company carries out and supports the following activities in its gas sector:
- intra-field gathering, gas transport, consumer supplies via 5 gas distribution stations, field pipeline network and gas mains, which totally stretch for 3,000 km;
- gas compression performed by 8 compressor stations for gas transport and 1 compressor station for gas injection; for energy-saving purposes all stations are fitted with gas turbine drives;
- low-pressure gas utilization run by 17 compressor stations of final separation stages;
- gas processing maintained by 3 processing units with total output of over 7 bcm/year;
- power generation driven by 19 gas turbine power plants (GTPP) and 7 gas piston power plants (GPPP).

The Company implemented tankless oil treatment method at almost all its booster pump stations. Under this method, oil-dissolved low-pressure gas accumulates at central gathering stations where it is separated by vacuum compressors.

All flare units are equipped with gas metering stations enabling the Company to adequately estimate its field gas resources and launch investment programs for efficient gas utilization.

Repressuring by gas injection is a new method for gas utilization employed by OJSC “Surgutneftegas”. In 2009, at the Talakanskoye field (Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)) the Company completed construction of gas turbine compressor with a capacity of 1.5 bcm/year. In 2010, the Company injected almost 150 mmcm of associated petroleum gas (APG).

In 2010, the Company’s APG utilization ratio accounted for 95.9%, including region-wise:
    100% - Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO);
     96.1% - Khanty-Mansiysky Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO);
     89.9% - the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

In 2011, we plan to increase the average annual utilization rate in Yakutia to 95%.

The Company actively maximizes its in-house APG utilization efficiency. In 2010, Surgutneftegas consumed almost 3 bcm of gas. All our boilers are fueled by gas; our equipment and machinery are heated by gas heaters and infrared gas heaters.
Surgutneftegas supplies its gas to industrial plants and boiler houses of Surgut city, as well as to settlements located in Surgutsky District.

To meet gas and energy demands at its fields, Surgutneftegas launched an efficient field infrastructure development program, which includes construction of gas pipelines, power lines, GTPP, GPPP, compressor stations, Heater Treater separators and boiler houses.

Following its 2010 program and requirements under licensing agreements, the Company completed construction and commissioned 2 gas turbine power plants and 7 compressor stations of low-pressure separation stages, revamped 1 transport compressor station and expanded 1 gas piston power plant.

OJSC “Surgutneftegas” continues to invest in its APG utilization assets, which will allow the Company to accomplish over 95% of gas utilization at all its fields under development by January 01, 2012.
